Kicking The Donald

Everyone has a good time putting down President Trump these days. I disagree with many of Trump’s policies and I didn’t vote for him. Like everyone else, and every politician before him, I don’t disagree with everything he does. There is no politician I have agreed with 100%, that’s a fact of democracy.

Today an Huffington Post article about a Trump tweet labeling him racist for calling the Coronavirus “The Chinese Virus” goes a little too far. In case you are unaware; currently there is a world wide propaganda war going on about the origin of the virus. This Foreign Policy article details the effort. China has been attempting to lay the blame on the United States military for the outbreak which they declare is a weaponized virus. Their efforts are printed and videoed in several different languages and distributed throughout the world, in particular the Middle East and Africa.

Let’s analyze this. Why would China declare it is a weaponized virus from the US? Because somebody screwed up. The South China University of Technology says the virus probably originated in a Wuhan Lab. The article from Investment Watch says

  • Beijing-sponsored South China University of Technology concludes that ‘the killer coronavirus probably originated from a laboratory in Wuhan’
  • It points to research on bats and respiratory diseases carried by the animals at  the Wuhan Center for Disease Control and the Wuhan Institute of Virology
  • WCDC is just 300 yards from the seafood market and is adjacent to the hospital

In the meantime, Xi Jinping has been relatively absent. This Breitbart article notes the Chinese president has done some photo ops in Beijing but will not go to Wuhan. The New York Post says the Xi knew about the outbreak as early as January 7th. That Xi, he’s one beautiful mf.

So, after all this, China is conducting a propaganda war to claim the virus was created by the US Military. Trump’s tweet is not racist, it’s realistic. If there are xenophobic reactions from Americans aimed at oriental people that’s an American problem; It’s called poor education. It’s because they aren’t smart enought to understand actions of the Chinese government are not the actions of Chinese people. Democracy, by definition, cannot succeed with an uneducated populace. Blaming leaders for knee-jerk racist reactions of poorly educated people enables this problem.
