Alexei Navalny, a Russian opposition leader, was poisoned in 2020. He was flown to Germany where it was determined he had been poisoned with a cholinesterase inhibitor, common in pesticides. Upon his return to Russia on 2021 he was arrested. 19 years were recently added to his sentence for “extremism.” His arrest resulted in mass protests against Vladimir Putin< and his government. The protests ended with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Since the mass protests no opposition leader or person critical of the Kremlin is safe from persecution (Amnesty International). Activists and peace protesters have also been arrested en masse. Putin has worked to destroy Navalny’s “Russia of the Future Party” and it’s affiliated organizations and allied political parties. The government intimidates, arrests and purportedly assassinates the rivals of Putin.
There has been a bout of suicides and “accidental deaths” among businessmen critical of Putin and his war in Ukraine (Wikipedia). No less than 45 suspicious deaths have occurred in this class of Russians in the last 2 years.
The Orwellian society of the Russian Federation has a complete disregard of justice and human rights. Can we understand the reason Ukrainians fight so hard against the Russian invasion? They, and other Baltic Nations, do not want to live under the yoke of Putin’s tyranny. Putin’s ties to Ayatollah Khameini’s Iran are no secret. That Hamas, Hezbollah and Yemeni Houthi rebels are puppet states of Iran isn’t either.
On October 3rd the US House of Representatives, led by malcontent Matt Gaetz,< ousted speaker Kevin McCarthy. This action has delayed aid to Ukraine. On October 4th Egypt warned Israel of suspicious Hamas movements in Gaza. Ben Gvir,< Minister of Israeli National Security, seemed to ignore the warning. Everyone knows what Ismael Haniyeh‘s< Hamas Derliwangers did on October 7th. Many forgot what has been happening in Ukraine. The fascist giants of Mordor love to keep people confused and distracted.
The self described “patriotic” alt-right politicians who don’t support continued military aid to Ukraine in the face of totalitarian aggression should rethink their position. The continued security of NATO allies and our nation depend upon solidarity and strength. Perhaps some of these congressional freshmen need a refresher history course.
