The Third Position and Heimbach

Strasserism, an ideological strand of Nazism which adheres to revolutionary nationalism and to economic antisemitism, was one of the stronger leftist factions of the NSDAP (Nazi Party). The left-wing slowly started to lose power to Adolf Hitler‘s faction; this culminated in much of the wing splitting off to form the Black Front, whereas the rest would be purged in the Night of the Long Knives

Matthew Heimbach is alternately referred to as a Strasserite or a National Bolshevick. National Bolshevism is another Third Position stance that combines ultra-nationalism and far left Bolshevism. He was a founding member of the Traditionalist Workers Party.

Heimbach has focused on a unifying vision of anti capitalist and anti Jewish groups. He visited European far-right organizations in Greece, Germany, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Romania, and Russia. In particular he met with representatives of the Russian Imperial Movement, an ultra-national group that wants to create a new Russian Empire. They helped organize and train Russian Separatists in Ukraine.

According to Counter Extremism Project, “Heimbach’s platform is based around the idea that the white race has been disadvantaged because of globalism and multiculturalism, which he has largely blamed on a global Jewish conspiracy. Heimbach claims that white unity is necessary because the Jews hate all white people equally.”To promote his anti-Semitism, Heimbach publicly supported Palestinian Nationalist organizations such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad writing that there should be “a unity between those who struggle against the Zionist State and International Jewry here in the West and those on the streets of Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon. We face the exact same enemy, one who doesn’t care if they kill our women, children, and elderly. We are facing a truly Satanic enemy.” Wikipedia

In 2014, Heimbach was photographed at a SlutWalk protest brandishing an Orthodox cross as a weapon against anti-racist protestors. SlutWalk is an organization calling for an end to rape culture and victim blaming. He is now a member of the Patriotic Socialist Front. Heimbach and the Patriotic Socialist Front appeared during the Rage Against the War Machine rally with a Soviet flag (Truthout)

Heimbach organized speaking engagements at American universities, causing mass protests by both students and community members. Heimbach is alleged to have met with Republican Party strategists and operatives in January 2017 during the inauguration of Donald Trump (New Republic).
