Nazi propaganda demonstrates the influence art has on the masses. It is an interesting part of art history. Today vintage Nazi posters command a high price in auctions. Let’s look at some of these images and see what they are trying to convey.
These images are an attempt by the fascists to sell themselves as wholesome and family friendly. The Nazis themselves weren’t really wholesome. Here is the bio of Jean-Marie Loret; Adolf Hitler’s illegitimate son. The Derliwanger Brigade was a penal unit made up of murderers, rapists and pedophiles who went into Eastern European cities after they’d been captured to quell any possible dissent. They looted, raped, tortured and murdered without consideration to age or gender.

These posters are an appeal to the working and farming classes of Germany. NSDAP stands for National Socialist German Workers’ Party. The populist movement was supported by German nobility, industrialists and military leaders. Then they used propaganda to become popular among members of the working classes.
The image on the left is intended to portray Nazi leader, Hitler, as a noble warrior of purity. Interesting for a kleptocracy with leaders that looted art and valuable objects for their personal enjoyment. Both images are an appeal to masculinity; “The hot chicks love Hitler and the NSDAP!”

Fascists always need someone to demonize. It keeps people’s focus away from their leaders. The posters are representative of the Nazis’ incessant attacks on Jews. The Nazis blamed the Jews for everything from the German loss of World War I to the economic suffering caused by the Great Depression.
The image on the left portrays a Nordic and feudalistic character with a German soldier. This is part of the Nazi social engineering plan taught to people, particularly children, to instill loyalty to individual leaders rather than religious or political ideals. The poster on the right says, “Degenerate Music; a billing of Council of State Dr H S Ziegler.” and is part of the Reich’s efforts against music that was not considered traditionally German.
