Until 1933, March 4th was the day set for the inauguration of a new president. The Twentieth Amendment changed the date to February 20th. If the 20th falls on a Sunday the president is inaugurated but the public ceremony occurs on the 21st.
The January 6th invasion of DC by supporters of Donald Trump and followers of various groups including QAnon types is still being investigated. The Capitol Police were not ready for the size and virility of the protesters. The National Guard didn’t show up until it was too late.
The intelligence community doesn’t miss much. Between 1994 and 2020 there were 893 domestic terrorist attacks and attempts according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). 57% of those have been associated with right wing movements.
There have been rumblings about another protest or event on social media. Officials don’t expect violence however (Forbes). Let’s hope they are correct. We don’t need any more shenanigans on the false charge of campaign fraud over the election of Joe BIden.
