Ukraine Aid and a Congressional Vacation

Above; Putin and Kim share pleasantries over a snack

The Russian Federation is running out of weapons systems and have turned to Kim Jong Un. The Ukraine Forces report they shot down North Korean supplied missiles for the first time (The Guardian). Vladimir Putin and Kim have a special relationship.

It’s too bad the US right wants to play politics with aid to Ukraine. Denying more money for Border Patrol during the immigrant crisis is ridiculous. The US Supreme Court wasn’t going to let the President extend Title 42 keeping the border closed. Now all the people fleeing cartel violence are showing up in record numbers (Reuters). If the laws regarding immigration and refugee status are going to change Congress needs to get to work. They can do that after they pass funding – it’s obvious this political posturing isn’t about a real solution.

Ukraine has fought valiantly without air superiority. They have managed to regain half the ground Russian forces took in their surprise attack. Putin’s wine and dine session with Kim shows his desperation.

We will see if Congress, after their nice vacation, can get their job done. The US has spent $75 billion on Ukraine, quite a bargain to watch Russian forces beat themselves up trying to take the country. Compared to $1.9 trillion the US spent in Iraq to hand control of the country off to Iran it’s a steal. If Ukraine falls real patriots will remember which party let them down.
