Nations, particularly those with tyrannical rulers, do not want other nations to know when there is a ongoing revolution against their rule. They fear the sympathy and possible support these revolutionary movements might receive from external sources.
Tyrannical rulers also do not like to advertise an ongoing revolution to members of their own society. Citizens of their country may join this revolution, increase it’s popularity and numbers, leading to the downfall of the tyrant.
News and information blackouts, like the Iranian shutdown of the internet during the 2019 Iranian Protests, are quite handy. It is convenient to have a single government controlled news outlet in these situations.
Vladimir Putin has a problem. He has a few problems actually, but here we will focus on discontent in the Russian populace.
Demonstrations against Putin haven’t stopped since the 2021 Kharabov Krai protests. Although his forces have arrested opposition leaders like Alexei Navalny and thousands of protestors, public resistance has continued. The invasion of Ukraine, generally a move a tyrant would use to take the steam out of domestic opposition, didn’t work.
Russians have been joining the ranks of the Ukraine military. These men have stated they want to fight for Ukraine, win and then march on Moscow. The Siberia Battalion, Freedom of Russia Legion and others form 3 full battalions of Russians fighting against Putin’s forces. These units are currently making gains and conducting raids against the Russian Federation troops.
Here’s the kicker. on March 22, 2024, terrorists staged an attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue during a performance of the band Piknik (Wikipedia). These terrorists were Tajiks from ISIS-K; the same who conducted the attack in Iran in January (Wikipedia). The introduction of a third force into Russian politics will doubtless take thunder away from opposition movements. It will also galvanize the populace against this common enemy – and take attention away from Putin. This attack benefits Putin just as the January attacks benefited Ali Khameni. The US warned both Iran and the Russians before the respective attacks.
Conclusion; ISIS, ISIS-K, Khameni, Putin and Bashir al-Assad have the same gods propping them up.
