Belarus Elections

Elections are set for Sunday, 26 Jan 2025, in Belarus. President for Life Alexander Lukashenko has run the country since 1994. Prior he had served the Soviet Army and was elected to the Supreme Soviet of the Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic.

Lukashenko has never lost an election, Belarus became an independent nation in 1994. The last elections, in 2020, resulted in nationwide protests. Most Western nations condemn the elections as fraudulent.

The protesters faced violent persecution by the authorities. A statement by the United Nations Human Rights Office on 1 September cited more than 450 documented cases of torture and ill-treatment of detainees, as well as reports of sexual abuse and rape. At the end of 2020, the Viasna Human Rights Centre documented 1,000 testimonies of torture victims. Wikipedia

In true fascist form prisoners were tortured and raped, both men and women (BBC). Most of the leaders of the protest movement and opposition party were arrested or found dead under suspicious circumstances.

Lukashenko’s buddy of the same master, Russian President for Life Vladimir Putin, assisted in the crackdown on protesters. An undisclosed number of Russian troops ( possibly 30K) and Wagner Force members were present or entered the country to support Lukashenko’s government.

Following the beginning of the 2020–2021 Belarusian protests, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko publicly requested assistance from Russia, saying, “Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and our native Ukraine, their leadership are ordering us to hold new elections. […] If we follow their lead, we will go into a tailspin […] we will perish as a people, as a state, as a nation.” In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced he was willing to dispatch the Russian military to support Lukashenko, noting provisions within the 1995 agreements. These comments were condemned by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who called on Russia to allow for free elections in Belarus. On 14 September 2020, following negotiations between the Belarusian and Russian governments, Russia’s troop presence in Belarus was expanded, with undisclosed units of the Russian military being sent to places of permanent deployment within Belarus as “reserves.Wikipedia

The upcoming elections are expected to be no less rigged than past elections. People have already been denounced by the opposition as a sham.

If Lukashenko were ousted would the gods want Russians to invade like they did Crimea when Ukraine president Viktor Yanukovich was impeached?
