Remember when, on 3 Oct 2023, a handful of republican representatives and a lot of democrats played follow the leader, Matt Gaetz, to oust speaker Kevin McCarthy? (Reuters) Probably not; the 7 October attacks dominated the news afterwards.

The ousting of McCarthy opened up a door for Gaetz, at Donald Trump‘s behest (NPR), to de-fund Ukraine. This was happening during a successful Ukraine offensive. Ukraine had already retaken half the ground Russia took from them in their initial push. The lack of funds for 6 months brought the Ukraine advance to a halt.

Great fanfare has been proclaimed about the new Russian advance but a check of the map from ISW (see Related, below) will show the pitiful reality of this great “push.” Russian president for life Vladimir Putin had to get help from North Korean president for life Kim Jong Un for cannon fodder to make this happen. In the meantime the Russian economy is headed for collapse that could lead to the ouster of Vlad. Why stop now?

Trump, predictably, cut aid to Ukraine today (CNN) under the guise of analyzing all foreign aid. Trump can’t analyze his own businesses (American Bankruptcy Institute) let alone foreign aid. Congress approves aid, not the office of president. This should be an impeachable offense.

Trump’s plan to stop the Russo Ukraine War was leaked recently. His idea is to allow time for his buddy Vlad to fix his faltering economy, rebuild his military, and leave him with a path to Sevastopol Naval Base. This will make their gods happy.
