US Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R, LA) called an end to the current legislative session. Congress will go on vacation for a month instead of working. Must be nice. The reason; Johnson doesn’t want a House vote to force the Jeffrey Epstein files to be released. Republicans have been pushing for a vote all week.
Johnson, a Republican from Louisiana, said Tuesday morning that he wants to give the White House “space” to release the Epstein information on its own, despite the bipartisan push for legislation that aims to force the release of more documents. (AP)
No vote to force the DOJ to release the files will occur until the end of August. Hell, creating a new list takes time! The whole affair makes one wonder if Johnson’s name is also on this Epstein list.
