The Isrealis are attempting to evacuate Gaza City as their troops push in to engage Hamas militants. Red Cross President Mirjana Spoljaric is warning it would be impossible to keep people safe during such an evacuation. “It is impossible that a mass evacuation of Gaza City could ever be done in a way that is safe and dignified under the current conditions,” Spoljaric said in a statement (Reuters).
The war in Gaza entered it’s 23rd month. Starvation and hardship has grown worse for Palestinians. Israel succumbed to Western leaders wishes; encouraging negotiations for the release of the hostages taken on October 7. This has extended the conflict, Hamas is not interested in releasing their ill gotten bargaining chips.
The IDF, hoping to limit civilian casualties in urban warfare with Hamas, should not listen to the Red Cross President. Evacuating the civilians of Gaza is better than having them in the middle of a war zone regardless of undignified feelings. Hamas has been hiding behind them long enough.
