Iranian Government Still Cracking Down

The Theocratic Iranian regime is still cracking down on opposition politicians and protest leaders. The Regime of Ayatollah Khamenei has been attending talks with the government of US President Donald Trump in the strawman debate of the Iranian nuclear weapons program (PBS).

Iranian media reported the arrests of Ebrahim Asqarzadeh, Mohsen Aminzadeh, and Azar Mansuri — members of the Reformists Front coalition — on February 8. Javad Emam, the spokesman for the coalition, was arrested on February 9 RFE/RL

Trump, who famously declared deaths of peaceful protesters would not go unpunished, did nothing of merit to assist democratic reformists in Iran. Turkish President for life Recep Erdogan opposes foreign interference in Iran’s politics (Jerusalem Post). The Iranian government said they killed 3117 protesters while Iran International claims the deaths exceeded 36,500.

Trump had a chance to change history and politicked his way around it. Similar to his handling of the Venezuelan protest movement (4dforum) his action or lack of action has preserved yet another oppressive regime (4dforum).
