Missing and Murdered Scientists Perplex Law Enforcement

A surge in scientists gone missing or being murdered has caused concern in law enforcement agencies. Some of these scientists worked together and were involved in research for the military revolving around Los Alamos National Laboratories.

  • Retired Air Force General William McCasland Missing. McCasland was the Commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base
  • Monica Reza Missing,worked for NASA’s jet propulsion lab and had a close professional relationship with McCasland
  • Melissa Casias Missing. She was an administrative assistant at Los Alamos National Laboratories and worked with McCasland.
  • Carl Grillmair Murdered. He was an astrophysicist at Caltech. “He worked on a NASA-supported space telescope project and infrared systems. He was found shot on his porch. The suspect has no clear motive for the killing.
  • Anthony Chavez Missing; He worked for Los Alamos National Labs. His car was locked in the driveway and his wallet and keys were found inside his home.
  • Nuno Loureiro Murdered. He was a professor of nuclear science and engineering and of physics at MIT. He was killed while answering the door. It is suspected Claudio Valente perpetrator of the Brown University Shooting may have killed him.
  • Frank Maiwald cause of death not released. Maiwald was a Senior Scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab.
