US Saboteur Donald Trump has negotiated a 10 day cease fire between Israel and Hezbollah (MSN). Cease fires have been one constant in the conflicts Israel has been involved in. They usually suffice to preserve the terrorist groups enabling them to re arm and launch attacks later.
After the battles between Hezbollah and Israel in 2006 a UN brokered ceasefire and Israeli withdrawal saw Hezbollah rebuild their arms and missile inventory (Wikipedia). Hezbollah re armed after the last outbreak of fighting ( in 2024) with help from the new Syrian government, though they deny it, led by Ahmed al-Sharaa (this post). Iran has been able to smuggle arms through Syria to Hezbollah with no problem.
When the US attacked Iran on 28 February, Hezbollah launched a missile assault on Israel. The IDF responded with it’s own bombardment and conducted raids into Southern Lebanon. Hezbollah, like Hamas, often build their tunnels and arms caches under schools, mosques and hospitals. This is illegal under laws of land warfare; they are using civilians as shields. The strategy is to cry victim when enemy forces strike these targets that have become legitimate due to the presence of fighters.

The Lebanese government has been impotent in their effort to disarm Hezbollah. There are Hezbollah representatives in the Lebanese government. According to one Hezbollah operative interviewed by NPR, Hezbollah didn’t give weapons to the Lebanese forces, they gave them scraps and empty boxes.
Hezbollah re-arms… but how? NPR
News organizations interviewing people in Hezbollah controlled Southern Lebanon have found mostly support for the organization. This is not stellar ground breaking journalism. No shit someone who lives in the middle of Hezbollah territory is going to profess support for them; they don’t want to be executed.
This represents one of the key elements to the survival of Hezbollah. Hezbollah took over the region after Israel removed it’s forces in 2000. They displaced the Southern Lebanon Army (SLA) and established themselves like the Mafia did in New York City. People in the region are more afraid of Hezbollah than they are their non represented government.
The Western nations and the UN have perpetuated this situation with every call for peace in the area. The West has failed to support the Lebanese government and other factions in Lebanon. This terrorist enclave has been allowed to exist, rearm itself and recruit members from southern Lebanese youth in the absence of a government force. The Lebanese government is incapable of enforcing it’s will on a huge part of it’s own territory. We have to consider the West may be covertly complicit in the existence of Iranian proxies with their targets set on the Jews of Israel.
An ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure. Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis should never have been allowed to take root and subjugate the people of their respective regions. Psychologically the affect on the local populace becomes one of eventual submission. There is no way for them to be free of these religious zealots so they begin to align themselves with their overlords. This happens not just in appearance and action but in reality. The minds and feelings of the occupied toward the invaders change until they associate themselves with their new rulers.
