Is Trump a Crime Fighter?

On Friday, 12 June 2026, the US conducted a strike coordinated with the Venezuelan Chavista regime. They killed Nino Guerrero, leader of the Tren de Aragua drug cartel (BBC).

It’s always good to see the leader of a violent cartel be removed from office; we’ll see who becomes their next leader. In the meantime I’m sure the Cartel de los Soles, run by Diosdado Cabello and the generals of the Venezuelan Chavista regime, are extremely happy; Trump helped them strike the competition. Cabello is probably also happy to be rid of the sacrificial cow known as Nicolas Maduro, who is still awaiting trial.

Remember last year when Trump pardoned former Honduran president Juan Orlando Hernandez after the latter was convicted of drug trafficking (ABCNews)?

During Trump’s first term he and former AG William Barr released Mexican general Salvador Cienfuegos who was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport. The DEA say he was “El Padrino” of the H-2 cartel. His position in the army consisted of fighting cartels and he was able to help his cartel by using the army to attack the competition.

Of course there is always Jeffrey Epstein and Les Wexner’s alleged involvement in cocaine deals for the US government (this post). And we know about Trump’s association with Epstein.

I think we could say that Donald Trump is only supportive of drug gangs that are run by governments or at least government officials. And why shouldn’t Trump and Cabello be buddies? Trump saved the Chavistas from the one force that could have toppled their regime; the Venezuelan people.
