Today the Times of Israel posted a retraction of sorts. In yesterday’s news blog I highlighted their story on the capture of the Hamas security chief; they said the raid was conducted by Palestinian militiamen with the assistance of IDF Special Forces (Times of Israel).
Today they posted a story saying the raid was conducted by Shin Bet, and not by a Palestinian militia.
Today’s operation to capture the chief of Hamas’s internal security apparatus in Gaza City was carried out by special forces of the Shin Bet, the security agency and the IDF, announced in a joint statement. Arabic-language media reports claimed that an Israeli-backed anti-Hamas militia carried out the raid. Times of Israel
Was the first Times’ story incorrect? Was the second story run at the behest of the IDF? It doesn’t really matter. The argument against a two state solution created by the Oct 7th attacks could be injured by revelations that Palestinian militias are working with the IDF.
It also doesn’t change my thesis from yesterday’s news post.
Why would Western press be so intent on burying the fact there are Palestinians in Gaza opposed to Hamas? A right winger might be inclined to say all Palestinians are partially to blame for Hamas’ terrorist actions. A left winger may be inclined to believe all Palestinians support the righteous Hamas revolutionaries.
