Remember the Epstein Files?

We have been discussing the press and it’s freedom, or lack thereof. If you’d like to catch up you can check out these posts

Watching the TV news, I can’t remember the last time I saw a segment on Jeffrey Epstein. I did a search “Jeffrey Epstein news” and gave the limitation within the past week. Not one major media organization is carrying a story on Epstein except Forbes. There are a few detailing the Andrew formerly known as a prince suing the British police.

The Forbes article is about a whistle blower named Simon Andriesz who revealed that Epstein and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick had unrevealed business ties. It looks like it might be shady. Andriesz is now dead by suicide.

More than half of the Epstein files have still not been released, and those that did are heavily redacted. There is still a fight to get these files released but the news isn’t talking about it.

Why not?

Under the USA Patriot Act, signed into law after the 9/11 Attacks, the government can interfere with reporting on news if it presents a national security risk. What constitutes a risk is subjective, weighed by the secret courts also set up in the Patriot Act. Is it possible this anti American legislation that legitimizes censorship and secret courts is affecting what we see? Or, could it be the 6 major corporations that control 90% of US media are helping Trump by directing our focus away from some news?
