Meanwhile in Sudan

We have been discussing the press and it’s freedom, or lack thereof. If you’d like to catch up you can check out these posts

The Sudanese Civil War is the most horrific war on the planet at this time.

Yet the situation has grown even more grim since war broke out. More than two-thirds of the Sudanese population, an estimated 33.7 million, are in need of aid. Data is incomplete, and the UN figures on displacement vary, but according to the UN refugee agency’s Operational Data Portal as of April 2026, nearly twelve million people have been forcibly displaced. More than 6.8 million of them are internally displaced within Sudan, while close to 4.5 million are refugees, asylum seekers, and “returnees” who have fled or returned to neighboring countries. The number of people killed in the conflict is unknown due to restricted media access, but estimates range widely here too, from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of people. – Council on Foreign Relations

The article continues…

“We cannot allow Sudan to descend further into a nightmare of violence, hunger, and despair,” UN experts said in October. “The deliberate targeting of civilians, combined with the use of starvation, sexual violence, disappearance and displacement as weapons of war, is creating a humanitarian catastrophe of historic proportions.”

Watching the TV news, I can’t remember the last time I saw a segment on the Sudan Civil War. I did a search “Sudan War News” and gave the limitation within the past week. Not one major media organization is carrying a story on Sudan except US News and World Report.

Why not?

Under the USA Patriot Act, signed into law after the 9/11 Attacks, the government can interfere with reporting on news if it presents a national security risk. What constitutes a risk is subjective, weighed by the secret courts also set up in the Patriot Act. Is it possible this anti American legislation that legitimizes censorship and secret courts is affecting what we see? Or, could it be the 6 major corporations that control 90% of US media are helping Trump by directing our focus away from some news?

The following is an excerpt about the Sudan Civil War from Naval Bases for the 4th Reich – 4dforum

The fascist giants of Mordor and their white supremacist socialist leader have been sabotaging the US and helping Russia and China for decades. Because of their flag waiving and pretending to be right wing, not many have noticed.

Fighting in the Sudan began on April 8th, 2023 between 2 generals and their forces. “The clashes in Sudan are between the Sudanese Armed Forces, led by Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group, led by Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo” (CBSNews).

Previously the two had worked together to overthrow the dictator Omar al-Bashir. In 2019 the General al-Burhan assumed the role as head of the government. He has called for general elections in 2023.

In 2020 it became public that Russian President for Life Vlad Putin had arranged a deal with the Sudanese generals to operate a Naval Base in their country on the Red Sea. In July of 2022 it looked like the deal had faltered (Foreign Policy). In February of 2023 al-Burhan informed Putin the base would have to wait until the institution of a civilian government (ABCNews).

Russian mercenary army Wagner Group has been active in Sudan the entire time. They had started a gold mining company under al-Bashir. The company has been sanctioned for supporting Putin’s war in Ukraine. Wagner group backed him during uprisings against his rule.

When al-Bashir was ousted they befriended General al-Burhan. In early 2022, when their naval base aspirations began to look shaky, the started to back General Dagalo. Currently Wagner Group is believed to be supplying weapons to Dagalo (CNN). It is not known if Wagner mercenaries are directly involved in the fighting (aljazeera).

Dagalo’s tap from Putin may have a lot to do with his audacious grab for power. He has stated that Sudan should be willing to cooperate with Russia and backs their desire for a naval base (Reuters).
