In October of 2023 Pakistan announced plans to deport undocumented Afghans in their nation back to the Taliban. The UN believes there are 3.8 million Afghans living in Pakistan who fled the Taliban. The government of Pakistan puts the number at 4.4 million. Wikipedia

The Donald Trump administration announced plans to begin deporting Afghans here in the United States to Pakistan (AP News). The first plane was supposed to depart Louisiana on 3 November. Protests from veterans and advocacy groups have delayed the first flight (USA Today).

Many of the detained Afghans assisted US forces or the diplomatic mission in Afghanistan during the war against the Taliban, or have relatives who did. If sent to Pakistan and then to the Taliban, their lives are in danger.
