Senate Republicans Block Inquiry into Capitol Riot

The House passed bill to initiate an investigation into the January 6th Capitol Riots has been blocked in the Senate by Republicans (CBS News). The potential affect on the midterm elections and scrutiny of the lack of response by the National Guard troops were the motivations.

Republican Senator Mitch McConnell has been the target of criticism as has Democratic Senator Joe Manchin. 11 Senators didn’t vote on the bill (CNN) including two Democrats, one from Arizona and one from Washington.

Over 440 rioters have been arrested so far. Showing their face in DC has made them Q”not so” annons. The farce has taken attention away from questions about the legitimacy of Trump’s 2016 win while losing the popular vote by 3 million. In the future questioning elections will be more difficult.
