Dixie Virginia Carter (May 25, 1939 – April 10, 2010) was an American actress who starred in Designing Women, Family Law and Desperate Housewives. She starred in many movies and musicals as well.
Politically she was a liberal Republican who supported civil rights and same-sex marriage. She was interviewed in the 2000 Republican convention. She was an active philanthropist who supported the arts and believed in presenting a positive and empowered female image (Facts.net)
Carter died on April 10, 2010, in Houston, Texas from complications from endometrial cancer.
Malinda Hoagland (Aug 10, 2011- May 4, 2024) was a 12 year old girl who was physically and mentally abused. She had several broken bones and weighed only 50 lbs when she was discovered chained to furniture in the house of her father and his girlfriend. She died a few hours later. (New York Post)
