Project 2025 is an ultra conservative plan to alter American society. The document was published by The Heritage Society, a right wing political think tank. It lays the groundwork to consolidate executive power and forward right wing political and social agendas (Wikipedia).
Donald Trump and his campaign have sought to distance themselves from Project 2025; denying they had an knowledge of it’s content. The “180 Days Plan” part of Project 2025 was penned by Paul Dans and Spencer Chretien, both former Trump administration members. Now that he’s won the election Maga types, like Stephen Bannon, have come out saying that Project 2025 was always the plan and they lied to win the election (The Independent).
The plan sets out guidelines to downsize government agencies that promote climate awareness and sustainability. The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration is slated to be drastically slashed. The GOP led Supreme Court recently curbed the EPA’s ability to enforce clean air regulations on power plants (Harvard.edu) so this should come as no surprise. What is surprising is plans to knife the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the guys that are supposed to keep companies from ripping us off; NOAA is part of the Commerce Department.
NOAA’s six offices, including the National Weather Service and National Marine Fisheries Service, “form a colossal operation that has become one of the main drivers of the climate change alarm industry and, as such, is harmful to future U.S. prosperity,” the guide states, CBSNews
Project 2025 suggests dissolving the Department of Homeland Security and farming out their responsibilities to other departments. The idea behind the DHS was to centralize intelligence to more easily identify terrorists and threats, including those that might enter through our borders. I guess the wall will take care of that.
It states that U.S. Agency for International Development staff and grantees that “engage in ideological agitation on behalf of the DEI agenda” should be terminated. At the Treasury Department, the guide says the next administration should “treat the participation in any critical race theory or DEI initiative without objecting on constitutional or moral grounds, as per se grounds for termination of employment.” CBSNews
Project 2025 also calls for a reversal of the FDA approval of the birth control drug mifepristone. It also calls for the reinstatement of the Trump era ban on transexuals in the military.
In a section titled “The Family Agenda,” the proposal recommends the Health and Human Services chief “proudly state that men and women are biological realities,” and that “married men and women are the ideal, natural family structure because all children have a right to be raised by the men and women who conceived them. Further, a program within the Health and Human Services Department should “maintain a biblically based, social science-reinforced definition of marriage and family.” CBSNews
