… about cultural engineering. In an article entitled 5 Ugly Abraham Lincoln Facts No One Likes to Talk About (YEntertainment) some quotes are presented via the Smithsonian to make the case Abraham Lincoln was not an abolitionist.
“If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that.”
The Union Generals of the Civil War had varying opinions on slavery. Ulysses S Grant owned slaves at the start of the war. He later became an ardent abolitionist. This is also true of General George H Thomas. General William Birney believed in emancipation and encouraged black men to join the Union Army. Many US Generals, like Robert E Lee, and troops aligned themselves with the Confederacy. Obviously Lincoln had to walk a fine line to keep his Generals and armies on the side of the North.
Some fail to recognize Abraham Lincoln’s leadership and ability to actually fight the war. The North could have just let the Confederate States secede. The Union would have been broken and slavery would have continued.
“Your race are suffering, in my judgment, the greatest wrong inflicted on any people,” he said. “But even when you cease to be slaves, you are yet far removed from being placed on an equality with the white race.”
History bears witness to this prophetic statement by Lincoln. He was right; after slavery was abolished the sabotage of Reconstruction and creation of Jim Crow laws ensured blacks would not have equal rights for a century.
This effort to take Abraham Lincoln down a notch fits in nicely with the effort to remove DEI from the military and government services (NPR). It’s the flipside of teaching kids in Florida that slavery was good for black people (NBCNews). It’s the ugly truth about some of our nation’s academia.
Oddly enough some of these same professors would label Karl Marx a humanitarian and egalitarian.

Interestingly Karl Marx made overtures to Lincoln, writing letters and attempting to befriend the US president. It was one of the man god Marx’s operatives that assassinated Lincoln.
