Shootings in Gaza and the Press

Hamas is winning the propaganda war in the United States. One reason is Israel’s disdain for publishing the results of it’s investigations and casualty numbers. Another is the press is focused on printing claims by Hamas and not the IDF. This trend is so prevalent even some Israeli newspapers tend to be one sided in their reporting.

Col. Richard Kemp, a retired British officer, told The Jerusalem Post that he visited one food distribution site and found the effort “brilliantly conceived and extremely well executed. They are feeding the people of Gaza until such time as it becomes unnecessary.

At least 112 people were killed and 760 injured in an incident where Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops used live fire as hungry and desperate Palestinian civilians were gathering around food aid trucks, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza. CNN is unable to independently confirm these numbers.” By Rob Picheta, Abeer Salman and Jeremy Diamond for CNN World

News organizations and research groups that report anything against the Hamas narrative are skimmed over in news reports.

A study by the Henry Jackson Society has highlighted that the Gaza Ministry of Health, under Hamas’s control, has inflated civilian casualty figures by misclassifying combatant deaths and including non-conflict-related fatalities. Despite these inconsistencies, international media outlets have largely relied on these figures without sufficient scrutiny. The study found that 97% of publications cited only Hamas sources, with a mere 3% referencing data from both Hamas and Israeli authorities.

“Numerous reports out of Gaza say that Hamas is killing many civilians looking for a sack of flour on the pretext that they are collaborating with the American food distribution centers!!…. Hamas has no choice but to set up death squads [to operate] against anyone who opposes its theft and tries to find a sack of flour outside its control and far from its black market… It is not only Israel that is creating this terrible reality; Hamas is complicit in this industry of death, hunting down the hungry with the death squads it calls Al-Sahm, in order to inform anyone who approaches [the distribution centers] that do not belong to Hamas that their only [fate] will be to fall victim to the arrows of the Al-Sahm Unit. This is the bitter reality: Hamas and its Al-Sahm Unit, which hunts down those who seek nothing but a crust of bread.” Al-Hayat Al-Jadida (Palestinian Authority’s newspaper) June 19 – translated by the MEMRI

The Israeli Hamas War has overshadowed reporting of the Russo Ukraine War, the Civil War in Sudan and the Cartel War in Mexico. All these conflicts are larger than the former. What kind of money and power is necessary to create this type of media blitz? Does propaganda only emanate from the right? Are we sure the powers of the Western World have abandoned anti Semitism? Is there some other force at work; possibly with the upper echelons of some news agencies?
