Former President Donald Trump is offering to lead a group to negotiate peace between Russia and Ukraine (Business Insider). Quite a turn around from some of his previous statements.

“In March, Trump said he would send nuclear submarines to go “up and down” Russia’s coast to pressure Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Trump also suggested that the US put Chinese flags on its fighter jets and use them to “bomb the shit” out of Russia.” (The Guardian)

The recent Ukraine advances and the threat of losing Sevestapol, a Russian naval base in Crimea, might make a peace settlement appealing to the giant gods of Trump and Putin. Besides, Trump could be touted as a peace maker and savior despite past comments. Might even have a chance at running again-giving the gods another presidential term to play with.

Of course, it was expected Biden wouldn’t support Ukraine’s defense, Trump would have attempted to blame the impending Russian victory on Biden’s weakness. This explains the timing of Vladimir Putin‘s invasion. That didn’t work out and he changed his rhetoric accordingly. Trump was correct when he said Putin wouldn’t have invaded while he was president.
