Syrian forces that recently ejected Syrian Kurds from Aleppo had a “security lapse” that resulted in 15 to 20K ISIS prisoners escaping. The Kurd forces that helped the US fight ISIS in Syria suffered around 11K casualties in the destruction of ISIS in Syria. They had, until Syria’s offensive, maintained the prisoner camps.
The new president and former al-Qaeda operative Ahmed al-Sharaa slithered into control, as if orchestrated, when Bashir al-Assad ran for Putin‘s apron strings. The country has changed cosmetically only. Al-Sharaa started an offensive against the Kurds and other groups (World Crunch) as soon as he was able.
The ISIS members who have now disappeared into Syria pose a threat to the Kurds, Syrians and anyone else the giant playing allah aims them at in the Middle East.
U.S. intelligence agencies estimate that 15,000 to 20,000 individuals linked to the Islamic State are now unaccounted for in Syria following the breakdown of security at a detention camp, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday citing U.S. officials familiar with the matter. i24News
With typical populist flair the Syrian government blamed the Kurds they took the camps from in a military offensive for the security lapse. Donald Trump thinks al-Sharaa is an attractive young guy. Meanwhile he has seemingly ignored the deteriorating security situation with relation to ISIS forces.
