In November of 2013 through February of 2014 the people Ukraine took to the streets and protested the regime of Viktor Yanukovych in the Euromaidan Protests. The people wanted to align their country with the EU and break free of Russian influence. Yanukovych was a supporter of Vladimir Putin and favored Russian areas of Ukraine colonized during the time of the Soviet Union.
The protesters were fired upon by by police and over 100 were killed in Kyiv between the 18th and 20th of February 2014. The parliament convened to oust Yanukovych who stepped down and fled the country to Russia. The depth of Yanukovych’s corruption was discovered after (Wikipedia). He was charged with treason in absentia, sentenced to 13 years and remains in exile in Russia.
On 27 February 2014 Russian special forces in civilian clothing began seizing key areas of Crimea. Then next day Russian forces occupied the Crimean parliament and Russian troops began moving into the region. On 17 March the “new” Crimean government requested to formally join the Russian Federation.

On 28 July 2024 Edmundo Gonzalez was declared the winner in the Presidential race against Nicolas Maduro. The Chavista government nullified the results and left Maduro in charge. Protests erupted across the nation (Wikipedia). Security forces and collectivo militias in what Maduro lieutenant Diosdados Cabello called Operation Tun Tun went door to door arresting pollsters and opposition members. Collectivos also assisted in suppressing dissent and are believed to have killed over 2,000 protesters.
Donald Trump sent United States Navy began blowing up drug boats off the shore of Venezuela. This drew attention to the Carteles del Soles lead by Venezuelan generals and politicians such as Maduro and Cabello. The imminent threat of invasion by the US encouraged Venezuelans to join Collectivos and abandon the pro democracy opposition movement. The US staged an unbelievably smooth arrest of Nicolas Maduro on 13 January 2026 and declared a successful regime change. Sanctionee Delcy Rodriguez was selected as the “new” government’s leader. Iranian protests against the theocratic regime began in December of 2025 and continued until January. This time the complaints were against the economic situation of the citizens to benefit the military and the nations ruling elite. It is believed 30K+ were killed by government aligned Basij Militias (Wikipedia).
I cannot believe I didn’t see the US attack on Iran coming.
The assault on Iran is designed to fail and the killing of the Ali Khamenei (appointee of the Ayatollah Khomeini) is not much different than the arrest of Maduro. If the man gods have their way any regime change in Iran will be purely cosmetic leaving the Iranian people still under the control of an authoritarian aligned with them.
