Russia Unveils Checkmate Fighter

Russian Federation President For Life Vladimir Putin praised the country’s aeronautical industry as he reviewed the new “Checkmate” fighter. The prototype plane made it’s debut Tuesday at the MAKS-2021 International Aviation and Space Salon in Zhukovsky (CNN).

The single engine stealth fighter is lightweight and outperforms and jets of it’s class. It is expected to go into full production in 2026 according to Russian State Media. The craft is manufactured by JSC Sukhoi Company, a subsidiary of the government controlled United Aircraft Corporation.

The UAE, Argentina, Vietnam and India are interested in purchasing the fighters when they become available. Syria’s Bashar al-Assad will undoubtedly also be standing in line.
