Above: “Saturn devouring his son” by Goya
Gen 22:1 And it came to pass after these things, that the gods ( וְהָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔ים the elohim) Abraham, and said, “Abraham,” and he said, “I am.” 2 And said, “Take please your son, your only one, whom you love, yea, Isaac, and go away to the land of Moriah and bring him up there for a burnt offering on one of the mountains, of which I will tell you.”
In the Hebrew there is no mention of a “test.” The translation of Abraham’s reply is given as “Here I am” but in Hebrew, Abraham’s answer is simply הִנֵּֽנִי or “I am.” This the same every other time he answers a query as to his whereabouts.
The phrase “whom you love” is אֲשֶׁר־אָהַ֨בְתָּ֙ the first part is “who” hyphenated with אָהַ֨בְתָּ which can mean love, did love, did like, did enjoy or loving, liking, enjoying. From context we can eliminate the last three. This leaves us with possible translations of love, did love, did like, or did enjoy.
But did Abraham love Isaac? Why do the gods refer to Isaac as Abraham’s only son?
In Genesis chapter 17, Yhwh makes a covenant with Abraham telling him he will become the father of many nations. Yhwh says he will give the menopausal Sarah a child and that son (Isaac) will become the king of many nations.
Gen 17:18 And Abraham said to Yhwh, “If only Ishmael will live before You!”
Abraham appeals to Yhwh to favor Ishmael, his son with Hagar, the benefactor of the nations. Yhwh tells Abraham Ishmael will rule a nation and be fruitful. He also tells Abraham he must circumcise himself, his heirs, men and male slaves. Abraham circumcises Ishmael.
Did Abraham love Isaac more than Ishmael? No. Isaac wasn’t the only son Abraham loved or liked. Back to our original list of translations for the phrase אֲשֶׁר־אָהַ֨בְתָּ֙ in Gen 22:2 – love, did love, did like, or did enjoy. Isaac is not the only son Abraham loved or liked. The only translation we cannot eliminate is “the only son you did enjoy.” Yes, that can mean in a carnal way.
This, above, is why the giant fascists whose actions are described hate the Jews; it’s their book.
May 12th in the 4th D or ether, the great white rapist, giant Phil (says he was Rommel but wasn’t) slipped up and admitted to raping a boy in L.A. in the early 60s. This story is related around circles in the city and is why Phil refers to L.A. as “the asshole of the world.”
