The current Supreme Court has made some unpopular rulings. The 6 Republicans dominate the 3 Democrats in the judicial body.
One of their first orders of business was to de-ball the EPA, restricting it’s authority to enforce carbon emissions (NPR). Immediately after they overturned Roe vs Wade ruling on abortion (CNN). The timing couldn’t have been more perfect; everyone forgot about the EPA. Somewhere in there they also ruled contractors couldn’t be forced to testify in post 9/11 torture cases (NPR).
Recently, under the shadow of proceedings on President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan, they ruled against the EPA again in wetland categorization (Reuters). Then, in a 6 to 3 ruling, they overturned the Student Debt Forgiveness Plan (Huffington Post). Here’s the thing for all you observers of the 4th D. The giant fascist Phil (calls himself Rommel but is lying) has been running around demanding the program for student loan forgiveness be dropped since Biden got elected.
The student loans will be paid off by the government either way. In the meantime the servicing companies will make money on interest and fees. Also in the meantime, the holders of those loans won’t be buying houses and cars. Not contributing to the economy to the extent they would without those loans. Those big purchases generate tax revenue and contribute to demand in the economy.
Of course we know a vibrant economy doesn’t serve socialists revolutionaries purposes; no one listens to them when the economy is booming.
They also decided there is no longer a need for affirmative action (CNN). Are we to believe racial discrimination has been defeated?
The bigger question is, does the giant Phil have some inordinate amount of influence with the right wingers of SCOTUS? He definitely did with George Bush Jr. What does that say about his “race war for the environment?”
