Terah, the father of Abraham was from the Babylonian city of Ur. Ur was a coastal city sitting at the mouth of the Euphrates River on the Persian Gulf (wikipedia). Terah took his extended family on a journey intending to go to the land of Canaan. He made it to Harran (wikipedia), not far from the Euphrates in a region currently part of Turkiye.
Genesis 11:31 And Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter in law, the wife of Abram his son, and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees to go to the land of Canaan, and they came as far as Haran and settled there.
Maybe Terah couldn’t read a map? Abraham stayed there until he was spoken to by Yhwh and directed to come to the land of Canaan. This makes perfect sense as scholars know Yhwh was the Canaanite god of war (Wikipedia and Religious Wiki).
Genesis 12:1 And Yhwh ( יְהֹוָה֙ ) said to Abram, “Go forth from your land and from your birthplace and from your father’s house, to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will aggrandize your name, and be a blessing… 5 And Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had acquired, and the souls they had acquired in Haran, and they went to go to the land of Canaan, and they came to the land of Canaan.
Abraham traveled to Egypt because there was a drought in Canaan. He told the Pharaoh’s men his wife Sarah was his sister. They took her to be one of the Pharaoh’s concubines. In this way Yhwh was able to grip on to her and discover the whereabouts of the harem and the Pharaoh’s residence. He afflicted them and accused the Pharaoh of stealing Abraham’s wife. The Pharaoh was so afraid he returned Sarah with livestock, servants, men at arms and gold. Yhwh had made Abraham rich! (Who is Finding Whom? Navigation Tricks).
Lot, Abraham’s nephew, left his camp when their men had a disagreement. He left Canaan and moved to Sodom in the plains. Yhwh told Abraham that he would give him (Abraham) rule over the entire region.
Genesis 13:14 And Yhwh said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Please raise your eyes and see, from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward. 15 For all the land that you see I will give to you and to your seed to eternity.
A war started between 4 city states and the other 5 in the planes. The latter group included Sodom. Lot was captured along with his possessions when Sodom was sacked. Abraham and his men attacked and defeated the captors and returned Lot to Sodom. The king of Sodom thanked Abraham and then made a specific request;
Genesis 14:21 And the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the souls, and the possessions keep for yourself.”
To which Abraham coyly replied;
Genesis 14:23 Neither from a thread to a shoe strap, nor will I take from whatever is yours, that you should not say, ‘I have made Abram wealthy.‘ 24 Exclusive of what the lads ate, and the share of the men who went with me; Aner, Eshkol, and Mamre they shall take their share.”
Abraham then had Ishmael by Hagar and Isaac by Sarah. Later their attention returned to Lot and Sodom. Yhwh declared the cries of Sodom and Gomorrah were too great as were their sins. He would destroy the cities. Abraham, knowing their conversation was being listened to, (how else would it have been written down) besought Yhwh not to destroy the innocent with the wicked. Yhwh said he would not destroy the cities unless everyone, save 9, were evil. It was an exaggerated conversation Genesis 18;23 – 32. One of them has to look like the “good cop.” The next step; stage an act to give them the excuse to destroy the cities. It’s not possible, or demonstrated, everyone in these cities was evil.
Angels went to Sodom and Lot invited them to stay in his house. Some men of Sodom surrounded the house and demanded the men be given to them to rape. Lot offered up his virgin daughters instead. The angels blinded the men and they were helpless. The angels then warned Lot that Yhwh was going to destroy the city and told him he must leave.
Who were these rapist men? Lot called them “My brethren,” (Genesis 17:7). Did he mean they were related? If so, they were also related to Abraham. Did they actually live in Sodom? If so, were they from there?
1 Samuel 5:6 And the hand of the Lord (Yhwh) became heavy upon the Ashdodites, and he ravaged them, and he smote them with hemorrhoids, Ashdod and its borders.
One purpose the Bible stories serve is to warn us of future events. This is done by relating the stories of the powerful that manipulate mankind. They, being also human, repeat life patterns and strategies in future lifetimes. See Sodom, Gibeah and NM. Next thing you know they were stoning women to death.
We know the rest of the story. The Pharaoh, being under Yhwh’s thumb, sent his forces to burn the cities to the ground with their brimstone incendiary arrows. No event in Gomorrah is related in Genesis to justify it’s destruction. A lot of souls were harvested. These souls would be programmed and be reborn with a predilection to worship Yhwh and Abraham implanted in their subconscious. See Souls for a New Reich.

Revelations 12:9 The great dragon, the primeval serpent, known as the devil or Satan, who had led all the world astray, was hurled down to the earth and his angels were hurled down with him
I will finish by saying the Bible was inspired by God. Consider, where would we be if these books had not been kept alive for thousands of years? This is why they hate the Jews and the Christians.
