We’ve been looking at historical situations were two seemingly opposed political groups, led by allied politicians, manipulated events. Playing chess against oneself makes it easy to pick what side will win. Let’s do a recap.
During the French Revolution the constitutional monarchist Girondins and the radical left Montagnards managed to butcher the royalty and each other. Their infighting destroyed France’s attempt at an actual democracy and eliminated most of the actual revolutionaries. Napoleon became the new dictator and destroyed the French army. In the first days of World War II the fascist German army invaded France. The French outnumbered the Germans. The Germans made a foolhardy push through the Ardennes. Their armor was in a huge traffic jam trying to get into the forest that French observation planes saw and reported. The French chose not to bomb the column. Once the Germans were through the forest the French surrendered; simply gave up. The same leaders who surrendered became the head of the fascist Vichy French government. They gave concessions to Hitler including 600K Frenchmen sent to Germany as forced labor and exported Jews for extermination 4dforum.
The Iran Iraq war was fought by two new leaders who used the event to purge their societies of people they didn’t want around. 4dforum
